How does your manager inspire you?                                                                                     What makes an inspiring leader?

                                                                                                                               •  Telling employees personally how they bring value to the business, communicates the
                                                                                                                                   impact their hard work is having.  This is rewarding and motivating.

                                                                                                                               •  Takes time to catch up


                                                                                                                               •  Taking that time out of a busy meeting scheduled diary to catch up with your team shows
                                                                                                                                   your dedication to supporting them.

                                                                                                                               •  It helps build rapport with your employees


                                                                                                                               •  Including them


                                                                                                                               •  Asking for opinions and seeking feedback involves people in the decision making and
                                                                                                                                   helps them feel connected and valued.


        A nice positive response, with only a handful of voters who chose ‘they don’t inspire you’.


        There are many obvious reasons why it is important you inspire your employees, but because
        they are so obvious they can sometimes be missed. An inspiring leader will lead a team who
        are willing and more open to achieve above and beyond for not only themselves but their
        manager too. Inspired employees are likely to be more creative and innovative, they may
        provide more discretionary effort when they feel valued and motivated.
